Directions for Book Reflection Blog:

Books must be fiction.
All reflections need to be posted by 11:59 p.m. the day it’s due (Thursdays) – you can certainly post before the due date. I’m basically looking for one a week – but I encourage more if it helps you.
Make sure heading of post includes the book title, date, and page numbers read for that week (EX: Boom, 9/7/10, pgs. 5-50)
Blog posts need to contain correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, thoughtfulness, and thoroughness and at least include the following:

Summarize what you read that day – be thorough, yet concise (I do not need a play-by-play) – remember summaries focus on the main ideas
Personal reactions to what you read (feelings/opinions?, connection to your life?, remind you of anything?)
Predict what will happen next in the story and why/how you came up with that prediction (infer) – use examples from the story to support your reasoning

Response Your entry contains a well-written response of at least 13-15 sentences. Your entry shows a high level of understanding and critical thinking about the story. Your response is focused – center answer on each area (summarize, react, predict). You really have something to say about the story you are reading, and your response is authentic and insightful. You do a great job of using specific examples and/or passages from the story to support your ideas. You go beyond the surface and go into depth about what you’re thinking and feeling about the story you’re responding to.

Conventions You use proper conventions (spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, etc.) in your response. It’s obvious you proofread your entry carefully before you posted it. Effective Paragraphing You made sure you indicated titles correctly.

Each blog post is worth 10 points – that’s a total of 70 points for the entire project.
